Advice

“What should we do whenever thoughts become too much?”

Advice: As teenagers there are many things on our mind which can be overwhelming, but you are not alone, many other people feel this way. A good way of coping with this is simply making time to pamper yourself and relax. Do something you enjoy that will take your mind off things whether that be riding a bike, blasting music, going for a run, reading etc. Try not to let little things stress you out because the stress will accumulate and you will feel like your head is going to burst. Organize your thoughts and don’t overthink or create scenarios in your head. Another thing I suggest doing is talking to someone you trust about your thoughts, you will most likely get a sense of relief and not think about those things as much as you do, there is always someone who is willing to listen especially if the thoughts you are having are negative.

Words of encouragement/ advice from others: “Take a long drive or go on a road trip, and listen to your favorite uplifting songs, it helps me every time” – Anonymous

"Can you give advice on Stress or Depression?"

When you feel stressed out take a moment and think if it’s really worth stressing over. Many of us tend to blow things out of proportion inside our head and overthink about unnecessary things. Try finding a solution, ask yourself why you are stressing about a certain thing and what you can do to stop it, if needed seek for help with your friends, teachers, family, and/or counselors. If you think you have depression please talk to your guardian about visiting a doctor. It is something very serious and not something anyone should experience on a daily basis. Please ask for help you may think nobody cares, but I can assure you many people do. You are important, you matter, you are worthy of being helped. Keeping your feelings to yourself is unhealthy and will make things worse.

“What would be the best way to relax without letting your anger out on everyone else?”

You are a human being and expressing your emotions is completely okay, but when you feel yourself taking your anger out on others think about how the person has no fault in the situation. It can be hard but something you can do is close your eyes, take a deep breath, relax your mind, and just focus on your breathing. Think about a time somebody was rude to you for no reason. Would you want to make somebody else feel that way? When people see you being angry for no apparent reason you will most likely come off as rude and annoying. Stress balls are very helpful, you can even make your own there are many tutorials on YouTube for you to watch. Always take a moment and think before you speak or act on your emotions.

"How do you deal with an ex that causes drama?"

I suggest you just try your best to ignore it or simply confront the person. This person is most likely trying to get a reaction from you and if you don’t give them one eventually they will stop. If you are thinking about confrontation keep in mind that may or not make things worse, they could use that as an opportunity to create more drama. Honestly I would just not give them the attention they want and shrug it off. They can’t be stuck on you forever eventually they will stop and realize how immature they’ve been. Try not stressing about it because it isn’t something worth your time.

“How can we make our school spirit better?”

This is something that should be talked about because many people lack school spirit which can make school not as exciting. A good way of bettering your school spirit would be participating during spirit week, events, and assemblies. We have another spirit week coming up in December and if everyone participated we would all have so much fun. It is not just about participating, but make sure that you are nice to your peers. Many people do not participate because they have a fear of being judged by others, everyone tries to get along and be nice to each other we will all be more united and have better communication. Not coming to school in a grumpy mood also helps, it is understandable being tired and sleepy during the mornings, but trying to simply smile at one another or saying good morning can make a big difference. Just participate and make sure you are nice and not judgmental.

“Any advice on positive thinking?”

I know hard positive thinking can be, but something you can do is practice gratitude. If you train your mind to be grateful instead of complaining for what you don’t have it will become a habit. Try waking up every day and taking a couple of minutes to think about all the things you feel grateful for. This could be friends, family, good health, food, a home, getting an education etc. When you catch yourself having a negative thought try your best to turn it around or looking at it from a different perspective. For example, instead of thinking “I am so mad I forgot my id” shift that to “I am so glad that I won’t forget it again because I learned my lesson” You can do it just don’t give up and don’t let your thoughts control you, it should be the other way around.

“Do you have any advice on staying on track and make sure I do well in my class?”

Try not getting easily distracted and prioritize your school work but to an extent. A way you could prioritize your grades is by going to reboot instead of staying in class with friends, stay for tutorials after school, and simply pay attention in class. If you catch yourself daydreaming during class immediately go back to concentration mode and ask questions about anything you missed. If you are absent make sure you get to school early and catch up with what you missed or stay after school and get the work done so it doesn’t affect your grade. Study any chance you get and don’t’ be afraid to ask questions during class or make mistakes, because that is how you will learn. Don’t care about what others think, this is your education not theirs. Try your best to not procrastinate and get your work done.
